Cystitis

The cystitis is inflammation of the urinary bladder. Most often affects women, but can be affected both sexes at all ages.

There are several types of cystitis, including:
Bacteria: the most common type, often caused by coliform bacteria being transferred from the colon into the bladder through the urethra
Interstitial: more than an infection, it is a lesion of the bladder, whose cause is unknown. Characterized by frequent diuresis (also every 10 minutes), pressure and / or pain in the bladder or pelvis. The pain increases as the bladder fills and decreases when you empty, although some may feel pain during the diuresis. Individuals suffering from interstitial cystitis often have to get up at night to urinate, feel tension in the pelvis and often have trouble starting to urinate, pain during sexual intercourse. Research has determined that the quality of life of those suffering from this type of cystitis is comparable to that of patients with renal failure in final stage
Acid: a rare form of cystitis diagnosed with a biopsy. Between the walls of the bladder infiltrates a high number of granulocytes acidophilous. Although the cause is unknown, it is assumed that children in this form of cystitis dia triggered by certain drugs
Radiation often affects individuals under treatment for cancer radiation
Heamorrhagic: often affects women with cancer as a complication of chemotherapy, and is widespread inflammation of the bladder which can lead to bleeding in the presence of pus in the urine. Among the causes of hemorrhagic cystitis is caused by chemotherapy, radiation, viral infections.

Generally, when the cystitis affects the lower urinary tract (urethra and vesca) normally sterile is infected by bacteria and becomes irritated and inflamed.

Most frequently affects sexually active women aged between 20 and 50 years, but can also affect those who are not sexually active girls and young people. Even the elderly are at high risk of developing bladder, due to the difficulty of emptying the bladder associated with benign prostatic  iperplasia, as well as poor mobility, incontinence, lack of adequate flow of liquid.

It 'more rare in men. In fact, females are more predisposed to develop cystitis because of their relatively shorter urethra and the proximity between the opening and the anus of uretra.

More than 85% of cases, cystitis is caused from Escherichia coli (E. coli), a bacterium that is found in the lower gastrointestinal tract. The sex may increase the risk of cystitis because bacteria can be introduced into the bladder through the urethra during intercourse. Once the bacteria enter the bladder are usually removed by diuresis. But when the bacteria multiply faster than they can be removed, you have an infection.

Risk factors for the development of cystitis include obstruction of the bladder or of uretra with the consequent stagnation of urine, insertion of instruments in the urinary tract (such as cystoscopy), pregnancy, diabetes, HIV, and history of analgesic nephropathy or reflux nephropathy.

diuresis painful (dysuria)
frequent or urgent need to urinate
need to urinate during the night (nocture)
abnormal urine color
blood in the urine (haematuria)
smell or strong smell of urine
Possible complications

Urinary tract infections chronic or recurrent
Pyelonephritis (increased urinary tract infection that has reached the kidney piel. And 'a form of nephritis)
